Warranty Terms The standard warranty provided to you based on the consumer protection regulations valid throughout the European Union is the so-called legal guarantee. This gives you the right to complain to us (the seller) about quality problems and defects of newly purchased products.
SmarterHomeShop.eu and your order (purchase contract) are governed by Hungarian law, which offers stronger consumer protection than the related EU Directive. As a result, you can enjoy a longer warranty period than in most EU countries.
When does the two-year legal guarantee start?
The two-year period starts from the day you receive the product, which is the date of delivery. Therefore, you should always keep your sales receipts and delivery statements.
How long is the warranty period?
The legal guarantee covers any defects presumed to have existed at the time of delivery and which become apparent within a period of two years (for consumers).
What problems are covered by the legal warranty?
The legal warranty covers manufacturing defects but clearly excludes issues caused by improper use, damage from bad wiring or faulty batteries, defects resulting from overload, overvoltage, overtemperature, and similar causes.
Defective products must be reported to us within a reasonable period of time after the problem is first noticed.
What is the process of a Warranty Claim?
- Verify that you ordered the products from us. We will ask for an invoice or order number to confirm your purchase.
- Ensure that you are still within the warranty period.
- Fill in the Warranty Claim form found at the bottom of this page with a detailed error description. We encourage you to include a video or pictures (whichever is appropriate) of the problem, as this helps us understand the issue better.
- If the problem is generic and can be solved by our support team, we will assist you with troubleshooting tips.
- If there is no solution to the problem, we will send you instructions on how to return the product(s) to us.
- Follow the instructions and send back the products. You will need to cover the cost of shipping the products back to us.
- We will examine the product within a maximum of 14 days and attempt to reproduce the reported problem. We will inform you if the product is indeed defective under the legal warranty and whether a replacement or repair is needed.
- We will send you back the original or replaced product. If it was a warranty-covered issue, we will cover the shipping costs.
Exchange, Repair, Refund
EU legislation sets a so-called hierarchy of remedies. You are entitled to the following, in this order:
- To request repair or exchange of the product from the seller within a reasonable period of time.
- If repair or exchange of the product is not possible, or not carried out within 15 days, or is too complicated or too costly for the seller, you have the right to be refunded the sums paid, or to keep the product and obtain a partial refund.
Please fill out the following warranty form and attach the necessary documents. You can find answers to further questions in the Terms and Conditions.
