The Conbee III is a universal Zigbee USB gateway (or coordinator) that allows PC or Raspberry Pi based home automation systems to communicate with Zigbee network devices using the Zigbee protocol. The Conbee III is one of the most popular platform-independent Zigbee coordinators, with a wide range of Zigbee device and platform compatibility.
It is cloud-less due to its local operation:
no factory registration required
Supports local, internet-less device management
All data (e.g. status of lights, switches, sensor values) remains on the local network
ConBee III is a universal Zigbee USB gateway
supports Zigbee devices from many manufacturers
no cloud required for operation
transmits a strong Zigbee signal (up to 30m indoors and 200m outdoors) thanks to the built-in signal amplifier
compatible with all major home automation systems
Cloud-free operation
Includes SiLabs EFR32MG21 chipCustom Zigbee 3.0 or Zigbee Green Power firmware can be applied (DIY)Compatible with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and will support Thread and Matter standards in the futureComplete with a physical push button to access service functions
Zigbee device compatibility
The ConBee III is compatible with a wide range of Philips Hue, Ikea Tradfri, Xiaomi Aqara, Ledvance Smart+, Silvercrest, Schneider Electric, Nous and Sonoff lights, switches and sensors.
Platform independent solution
ConBee III works with any mini-computer, e.g. Raspberry Pi, Intel NUC, as well as, PCs and laptops, adding Zigbee functionality to them.
Easy platform migration
The Phoscon App's "backup" feature allows you to transfer your Zigbee installation to the new system, for example migrate the current settings from e.g. a ConBeeII to a ConBee III.
Open the Phoscon app, make a backup and save it.Shut down the gateway and replace the ConBee II with a ConBee III.Power on the gateway and log into the Phoscon app.Load the backup file. The network parameters are updated in the background and the A software restarts. This can take up to a minute. The network can now be controlled via ConBee III.
Compatibility with home automation systems
ConBee II is integrated with most major smart home/home automation platforms, enabling exciting automations.
For example, any Zigbee device can be used with Conbee II with HomeKit via a Homebridge-hue.
- homebridge-hue plugin homepage
- home assistant deconz integration
- deconz docker container github | dockerhub
- zigbee2mqtt github
- node-red github | deconz flows
- fhem hue plugin
- iobroker deconz adapter
- domoticz deconz plugin
- openhab deconz binding
Availability
up to 30m inside the building
up to 200m in unobstructed area
Thanks to the built-in signal amplifier, ConBee III offers a fantastic range. The Zigbee signal can pass through 2-3 rooms or floors, depending on the building construction.
Devices installed further away from the Zigbee coordinator can be connected to it via a Zigbee Mesh network. Zigbee Mesh (signal transmission function) can be provided by Zigbee devices operating from a constant 230V (phase + zero) power supply, such as light bulbs, light switches, power sockets, these can act as Zigbee Mesh signal repeaters.
Phoscon software
The Phoscon App is jabzworded to integrate and control many popular Zigbee devices, and can also be used to set automation and rules.
It is recommended for configuring, controlling and visualizing deCONZ Zigbee networks.
