Monitor and save energy from anywhere
Unlock the power of smart energy use with detailed insights into your appliances' power consumption patterns. Integrate Shelly EM Gen3 into standard electrical wall boxes, behind power sockets, light switches, or other places with limited space. By identifying how and when your connected appliances use energy, you can optimize usage for maximum efficiency and lower your electricity bills.
Key Features:
- Two Independent Measuring Channels:
- Supports up to 120A on each channel, allowing monitoring of 2 different circuits or appliances simultaneously.
- Contactor Control:
- It includes a contactor control feature for loads up to 10A, helping to automate and optimize the control of electrical systems.
- Power and Energy Reporting:
- Shelly EM Gen 3 reports detailed metrics such as power, voltage, current, overall energy consumption, and power factor, which can help users track their energy efficiency.
- Local Data Storage:
- In case of Wi-Fi loss, the device can store data for up to 365 days, ensuring continuous data availability.
- Connectivity:
- Wi-Fi Operated: The device connects to a Wi-Fi network, no need for a smart home hub.
- Bluetooth: Quick and easy setup via Bluetooth, allowing seamless integration.
- App Integration:
- Control and monitor the device through the Shelly app, which also supports voice assistants such as Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
- Shelly EM Gen 3 is compatible with various home automation platforms and supports multiple communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, HTTP, WebSocket).
- Real-Time Notifications:
- Users can set threshold values for energy usage and receive notifications when certain limits are exceeded, allowing for quick intervention.
Gen3 Series features:
- On the Road to Matter
Each Gen3 device is engineered to be upgradable to Matter. The doubled memory, compared to Plus series, guarantees a smooth update process, paving the way for new smart capabilities and integrations.
*Dependent on the extent of Matter's functionalities support.
- More Memory, More Power
The Gen3 series ensures the quality and reliability of our devices by using our own powerful Shelly chip. Boasting 8MB of memory, this dramatically improves device performance and efficiency.
- Unified Control with Virtual Components
The Gen3 Series introduces “virtual components, transforming how you manage and control 3rd party devices. Within the Shelly Smart Control app, you can now create virtual devices, integrating non-Shelly products into a unified control system.
Modes of operations
- Cloud mode: In this mode, the device connects to the free Shelly Cloud, which can be controlled and configured through the Shelly Cloud smartphone app (available for both iOS and Android) and the website https://my.shelly.cloud.
- Alternatively, LAN / local network mode can be selected, in which case the devices can only be controlled by other devices connected to the same local network.
- You can also operate the device in WiFi Access Point mode (instead of WiFi client mode). For example, if there is no permanent WiFi network at the installation site, you can connect directly to the WiFi network broadcasted by the device using a smartphone or notebook nearby, and during this connection, you can control the device or, for instance, read the saved consumption data.
In cloud mode, Shelly devices can also control each other (with IF - THEN conditions) through the Shelly Cloud scenes feature. For example, a Shelly power meter can switch Shelly relays via the cloud, meaning the devices can wirelessly control each other through WiFi and the cloud according to rules set by the user.
It is also possible for devices to control each other directly using HTTP commands (DDD, or Direct Device-to-Device mode) without the use of Shelly Cloud, even in LAN mode, if fixed IP addresses are used. This means that Shelly devices can still switch each other on/off on the local network even if the external internet connection is lost (or blocked by a firewall), using actions set up in the Shelly app.
The Shelly PLUS 2PM smart control can be managed through the manufacturer's NEW smartphone app and its own cloud service, which are both available for free.
Integrations:
Shelly, with its default firmware, is one of the best choice for easy integration. It supports control via MQTT and REST API. It is compatible with voice control platforms like Google Home, Amazon Echo, and Yandex Alice. Shelly Plus (Gen2) and Gen3 devices also support Cloud and MQTT control simultaneously.
Many Shelly devices have already been integrated into the SmartThings platform through Shelly Cloud. Additionally, the default firmware supports a variety of other open-source and commercial systems, including:
- MQTT
- HomeSeer
- ioBroker
- Home Assistant
- openHAB
- Domoticz
- SYMCAN
- nymea
- Hubitat
- Homey
- Hoobs
- REST API, Webhooks
